Geez, it’s been a long time! I’ve been on hiatus for a while, traveling and catching up from traveling…you know how it goes. I was also quite literally herding cats–we spent the Saturday before this last one trapping five feral cats from the colony in our backyard and taking them to be spayed and neutered with a wonderful trap-and-release program organized by the Feral Cat Assistance Program. I’m amazed at the volunteers who work so hard to make sure that can happen, and I’ll be grateful to not have a perpetual litter of kittens in my yard now.

This past weekend we went to Lub-bock (I will always and forever pronounce it that way in my head) for my sister-in-law’s graduation from Texas Tech. She earned Ph.D. in Technical Rhetoric, so we all now refer to her as “Dr. Jen.” We had a little adventure with a flat tire on the rental car, ate tons of horrible junk food and made sure that we stopped at a 7-11 so we could get a Slurpee (we don’t have 7-11’s in Houston, so we’ve been deprived for too long). Lub-bock leaves a lot to be desired, but I had a good time hanging out with Jamey’s kids and his kooky extended family.

This Saturday is my birthday, so I’m sure I’ll have all sorts of fun things to blog about next week. But in the meantime I’ll try to catch up for the last three weeks with a very full top 20/bottom 10. Enjoy!
